Soul Nation Choir, run by the incredibly talented Chris Judge, is a Scottish rock choir that blends pop, soul and gospel in their performances. The best of the best vocal talents have gone through its ranks: X-Factor contestants, Bafta winners, West End stars - you name it. I've been photographing them since the choir's inception some 5 years ago: from candid, behind-the-scenes moments to images taken on music video shoots and during numerous live appearances. It's always a joy to work with them, I've made some friends along the way and I thought it was about time I compiled and shared some of my favourite images taken during these past 5 years. Enjoy and catch them live if you get a chance - they'll leave you smiling for days.

You may have seen Nicole Caldwell belting out "Purple Rain" on the X-Factor recently. I've been a fan of her voice ever since I've heard her perform with Soul Nation Choir a few years ago. Being able to finally work with Nicole on her very first photoshoot as a solo artist was a great opportunity. And a lot of fun! The brief was "bohemian/hippie/natural" so off we went last month to Mugdock Country Park (one of my favourite places to shoot) with Caroline Stewart on makeup duties and spent an evening walking about, laughing and talking nonsense. Oh yes, and we took some photos too. Enjoy!
PS. Big thanks to David for all the help!
Mark Angels is a Scottish singer/songwriter I've known for some time and have photographed on numerous occasions (performing with Soul Nation Choir for example). You may know him better as one of the contestants on BBC's recent talent show, Let It Shine where he sang and danced his way all the way to the finals as part of the band Drive. Mark is a brilliant singer and a truly amazing performer so when I was asked to do some promo shots for him at the end of last year we agreed that we would try to capture that vibe and energy in the photos. Big thanks to John at The Gray Room for being helpful and Sarah Kesson for assistance.
