100 Covers

Photographs that became records.

The first time one of my photographs appeared on an album cover was on the back of Jill Jackson'sBack to Zero in 2010. I remember being sooooo excited about it - not just because it was a first and it was Jill, though working with her has been one of the constants of my career, but also because I loved that record. I still do. I was reminded of this recently when it came on while I was cooking - I cranked up the volume, danced around the kitchen and ended up sending Jill a video of myself singing along to one of the tracks. A photograph on a screen is one thing. A photograph on a record you genuinely love is another.

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

I’ve been lucky enough to have a few more moments like that in my career. As it happens, sixteen years on, my photographs have appeared on over 100 singles, EPs and album covers. The number genuinely took me by surprise when I counted recently. For more than 40 of those I also designed the artwork, taking the image from shoot to finished sleeve.

The covers below are a selection of 25 from those 100 - chosen for the strength of the image and the variety of the work. They span folk, roots, classical, pop and everything in between. Some are by artists many of you will know. Some are by artists who deserve to be known better.
